He started his investment career at First Boston Corporation as a technology equity analyst and non-US investment strategist. Horacio holds an M.B.A from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech. He is a member of CFA Institute and serves on numerous boards, including The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors and The Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges.

Prior to Nicholas Applegate, Beal spent 10 years at Schroder Investment Management managing Asian equities. BSc in Economics and Politics from University of Bath.
